A noble group of people, known only as Pocket Gems, are breathing life back into Mean Girls and turning it into a fetch mobile video game, The Hollywood Reporter writes. It will be a free-to-play game that features a choose-your-own-adventure gaming style. (So, kind of like Elder Scrolls, just with clothes, popularity, and Plastics instead of swords, dominion, and Orcs.) Legally Blonde screenwriter Kirsten Smith, along with Marcy Kelly, will reportedly write a story that takes place after the events in the film, a.k.a. after all the Lindsay Lohan–Rachel McAdams drama. As players, you’ll get to enroll in the fictional high school as seniors and interact with all the classic movie characters as you see fit. “Even though it’s been a while since the movie came out, it’s been a favorite for people at the company,” Pocket Gems’ Jameel Khalfan told THR. “You as a user make choices that can affect the storyline. … What clothing you are wearing, what you do, the characters that you talk to — every choice you make will affect what happens in the story.” It should be available later this year. You go, Pocket Gems.
