Even though Archie Panjabi’s character Kalinda Sharma started to go awry the last few seasons of The Good Wife, it was still hard to see her go. Even so, life must go on: CBS announced Monday that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, currently starring in the Eye’s summer drama Extant, will join the cast as a series regular. He’ll play Alex, “a calm, experienced” private investigator whom Alicia Florrick hires in the wake of Kalinda’s farewell last season. Also, considering that Alicia is still in need of a love interest AWG (After Will Gardner), this might solve two narrative problems with one casting. Or he’ll just be known as the guy who isn’t Kalinda.
