This has been rumored for months, but now Deadline confirms the scuttlebutt: Ben Affleck will indeed direct and star in a stand-alone Batman film, and, what’s more, he’s almost done scripting it with DC Comics writer Geoff Johns. Don’t expect to see this one for a while, though, since Affleck must first direct his adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel Live by Night, which is set as his next project. Still, you’ll get to see plenty of Affleck in the Batsuit before then, as he makes his introduction in next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and then continues reprising the role in the two-parter Justice League, all of which have director Zack Snyder at the helm.
