Jon Stewart Will Quickly Come Out of Retirement to Host Some WWE Pro Wrestling at SummerSlam

Jon Stewart’s first big-time post–Daily Show gig will be as the celebrity guest host of WWE’s SummerSlam, USA Today reports. The four-hour pro-wrestling event takes place Sunday at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, where a slew of renowned wrestlers (think Brock Lesnar, the Undertaker, and John Cena, among others) will converge to kind-of-but-not-really beat the crap out of each other. The WWE calls Stewart “a longtime member of the WWE Universe,” which makes sense, as the comedian’s generated a fairly fresh rivalry with the WWE’s World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. The two crashed each other’s respective shows earlier this year and proved they both had their obvious strengths and weaknesses. Rollins is reportedly set to be at SummerSlam, so hopefully Stewart wields his rhetorical domination like the verbal viper he is and makes it out alive — March was a close call. (Jon, we are sending you our thoughts and prayers, and definitely abstaining from telling you to break a leg.) Maybe someone should give Colbert a call too.
