After composing the score for Paul Thomas Anderson’s last three films, Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood is finally stepping in front of the camera. Anderson will debut Junun, a documentary about Greenwood’s new album, at this year’s New York Film Festival. Earlier this year, Anderson accompanied Greenwood on a trip to Rajasthan in northwest India, where Greenwood recorded with Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur and more than a dozen other artists. Those sessions, according to the NYFF’s site, are the subject of “a lovely impressionistic mosaic and a one-of-a-kind sonic experience.” The festival runs from September 25 through October 11. Hopefully this will be the start of a trend: Next up, PTA will shoot a doc about his boom-mic operator.
