Sometimes, remixing is about turning the implicit into the explicit. The upcoming, much-anticipated superhero flick Suicide Squad is the tale of a group of convicted criminals who are dragooned into death-defying heroics on behalf of the U.S. government, with the knowledge that they’ll be unceremoniously killed if they fail to do their duty. Sound familiar? That’s because it’s basically the plot of 1967’s classic World War II action epic, The Dirty Dozen, which has the exact same conceit. For this week’s Vulture Remix, video artist Ezequiel López broke down Suicide Squad’s trailer footage and reassembled it as a Dirty Dozen trailer. Watch now, or risk summary execution.
