Stephen Colbert and Joe Biden Talk Death, Faith, and Family on ‘Late Show’

If people had any doubts that Stephen Colbert would get sincere and insightful interviews out of his Late Show guests, Colbert proved them wrong last night with his interview with Vice President Joe Biden. Right out of the gate, Colbert – who is no stranger to personal tragedy and losing loved ones – spoke with Biden about the recent death of his son Beau, how his faith has helped him get through the loss, and how grateful he is to have a family who’s supported him along the way. Colbert never cuts Biden off or hesitates to continue what turns out to be the kind of lengthy, candid, emotional conversation rarely seen on late night. Oh, and what did Biden have to say when Colbert asked him about his plans for the near future? “I think you should run for president again,” he tells Stephen, “and I’ll be your vice president.”
