Comedy is about committing to a very specific funny dimension, or nugget, in an idea and sticking with it. Insanity be damned, it’s about exploring every one of that nugget’s nooks and crannies until you’ve mined its comedy-rich surface for all potential material. As straightforward as that sounds, most people cover the big, shiny spots on the nugget – jokes that are low hanging or medium hanging fruit – but leave some tiny, shadowed spot unchartered. The result is an internet full of sketches that are “pretty funny” instead of “I have to show my friends” good. From Loose Seal Productions and writer/actors Zack Poitras, Matt Klinman, and Frank Marasco comes a video that’s not only perfectly asinine, but also explores the world it’s created in full, going above and beyond to service the core joke – “STAIRS RULE” – with a scientific devotion to exploring the shadowy side of the nugget.
