The Stars of Broad City Did a Tomb Raider Commercial and Probably Made a Ton of Money From It

Between this trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider and Anna Kendrick’s recent commercial for Star Wars, it seems that we’re at the beginning of a trend of video game commercials featuring young female stars. The pairing speaks to the video games industry’s desire to expand its audience and appeal to young women, so perhaps its all a societal step in the right direction (or, more cynically, an attempt to convince young men that young women will lust after them for their gaming skills). Still, no ad campaign will be ever be as pure and beautiful as Brie Larson’s love of Mario Kart or Lupita Nyong’o’s fandom for Final Fantasy.

Broad City returns Wednesday, February 17, 2016. Until then, let’s celebrate the fact that commercial work can be very lucrative. Like, dancing to the bank lucrative. Yaaas queens!
