Thanks to USA, SNL alumnus and impression sensei Dana Carvey will bring his talents back to a TV near you. Variety reports the network has green-lit a competition show, aptly titled First Impressions, which will pit up-and-coming impressionists against each other for imitation domination. Carvey will serve as an occasional participant, as well as an on-hand mentor for the contestants. “There are so many great impressionists and First Impressions gives them an opportunity to showcase their talents. Besides, I’ve always enjoyed watching an impressionist nail somebody — as in capture their voice,” Carvey, who’s exec-producing too, said in a statement. “Now I get paid to watch.” He will also reportedly be joined by other celebrity guests on the weekly, half-hour show, for which viewers will vote and select the victor. It’s unknown when Impressions debuts at the moment, so here are a couple tastes to tide you over.
