Welcome to The Second City Archives, in which we post an exclusive clip each week of some of comedy’s biggest superstars performing early in their careers on the legendary Chicago stage. Second City has generously given us a glimpse into their extensive archive of live performances, and over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some rare and retro comedy never before seen on the web.
Ah, fall. It’s such a beautiful yet fleeting season full of simple fall pleasures like jumping into piles of leaves or cozying up inside with a hot bowl of chowder – but those simple pleasures might be slightly different depending on who you ask. On that note, this week’s clip is from Second City’s 2001 revue Holy War, Batman! Or the Yellow Cab of Courage featuring ensemble performers Sam Albert, Andy Cobb, T.J. Jagodowski, Keegan-Michael Key, Jack McBrayer, and Abby Sher. In the above sketch, Jagodowski and Key play two men raking up leaves who swap stories about their fondest fall memories, and they’re about as similar as they are completely different. Watch another old clip of Key performing at Second City here.
