Nicki Minaj’s relationship with her ex-boyfriend (and rumored ex-fiancée) Safaree Samuels has become increasingly tortured and complex since the couple’s high-profile breakup last year (as documented in Minaj’s album The Pinkprint, Samuels’s diss tracks “Love the Most” and “Lifeline,” and Minaj’s perfect ethering of said disses on Twitter). But it seems that Samuels hasn’t learned to stop fueling the fire. TMZ reports that the jilted ex has decided to lawyer up and seek compensation for his claims — specifically, that he’s responsible for many of Minaj’s bars on her albums The Pinkprint, Pink Friday, and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. His suit, per TMZ, will also target Minaj’s work on her singles with other artists, including “Only” (with Drake, Chris Brown, and Lil Wayne) and “Flawless (Remix)” and “Feeling Myself” (both with Beyoncé). Samuels claims to have a large amount proof, including videos of him working with Minaj, voice memos from recording sessions, and several witness statements. He also is rumored to be using the fact that Minaj gave him executive-producer credit on her first two albums as evidence. Minaj has not yet responded to Samuels’s most recent actions, though she publicly addressed Samuels’s claims in the past, telling him, via a Brooklyn stadium crowd this summer, that “you don’t even know how to pronounce these motherfucking words in my motherfucking raps, bitch.”
