This Week in Web Videos: ‘First Person to Run a Marathon Without Talking About It’

Fall is upon is again and that means a deluge of video submissions about Pumpkin Spice Lattes and only Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Here’s the thing about Pumpkin Spice Lattes: they’re really not funny anymore. So, what we’ve done here today is found a video that’s really great, deals with fall, and lampoons the kind of people who still think Pumpkin Spice Lattes are funny. I’m talking, of course, about marathon runners. Written by Matt Moskovciak and directed by Tim Bierbaum, First Person To Run A Marathon Without Talking About It is the latest in a flurry of recent 30 for 30-esque sports mockumentaries that have proven to be Internet catnip. I guess what I’m saying here, is: we’re in the golden age of sports doc parodies, which begs the question…at what point does comedically appropriating social commentary through the lens of sport just become another flavor of Pumpkin Spice Latte? We’re living in a dangerous time.
