Are You Ready to Fall in Love With This Brooklyn Romance?

The period drama Brooklyn (out now) has so many things going for it, from its sensitive direction by John Crowley to its luminous lead performance by Saoirse Ronan, who plays a young Irishwoman navigating immigrant life in 1950s New York. But the film’s secret weapon may be actor Emory Cohen, who plays Ronan’s new suitor: He’s a grinning Italian who pursues her doggedly, and every time he gazes at her with those puppy-dog eyes, you’re guaranteed to melt. We’ve got an exclusive clip from the beginning of their courtship, where Cohen shows up and woos Ronan at an Irish dance even though he’s, y’know, not Irish. She doesn’t mind too much, and you won’t either.
