J.Lo’s Cop Show Has a Funny Name, But Its Trailer Is Kind of Intense

Shades Of Blue Trailer

So proud of Shades of Blue. Can’t wait for you all to see it. Check out the trailer now! "Who we think we are and who we turn out to be... are they ever the same?” #FirstLook #ShadesOfBlue

Jennifer Lopez is a bad cop, or maybe she’s a good cop, because good cops don’t mess with crime scenes, right? In the trailer for her new TV series Shades of Blue, which the multihyphenate shared on Facebook earlier today, things are very confusing. Her character appears to be working as an FBI informant in the midst of a group of bad cops led by Ray Liotta — but maybe she’s more renegade than she looks? We’ll just have to wait until the series premieres on NBC on January 14 to get the answers.

Until then, there are other questions to ponder: For instance, will Shades of Blue share an extended universe with The Fosters (which J.Lo also produces)? Has she kept that “first edition” of The Iliad her character got in The Boy Next Door? And, most importantly, which shades of blue are most evil? Cerulean sounds pretty villainous. Periwinkle would definitely seem on the up-and-up, and then turn around and frame a suspect with shoddy evidence. I’d trust azure with my life, but bring sapphire into the mix, and we have a whole different kind of situation.
