Though last season seemed to close out what was originally a limited run pretty definitively, Fox has announced plans to bring back Wayward Pines for a second season. According to a Fox release, “the second season will pick up in the wake of season one, when a new arrival in Wayward Pines finds himself in the middle of a serious rebellion, as the residents battle over how to preserve the endangered human race.” There’s no word on which, if any, members of the original cast will return when the second season airs in the summer of 2016, or who will play this new arrival (or whether the new arrival was in town all along — spooky, huh?). Still, business-wise, this isn’t much of a plot twist: According to Fox’s release, Wayward Pines was summer 2015’s number one broadcast-scripted series among adults 18-49.
