As anticipation for January’s Grease: Live reaches a fever pitch, Fox today announced its next live musical event: The Passion, a modern-day retelling of the death of Jesus Christ that will air on Palm Sunday. Based on a Dutch production that’s aired annually since 2011, The Passion will be shot on location in downtown New Orleans and will climax with a mile-long procession of “a 20-foot illuminated cross” from Champion Square to Woldenberg Park. Tyler Perry, who was born and raised in the city, will host; there’s no word on other casting yet. If you’re interested in The Passion, you’d better watch it live — we hear it disappears from your DVR after three days.
