Vatican Newspaper Hated Star Wars: The Force Awakens; No Comment From Pope

A small Vatican newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano (likely translation: The Daily Pope), which normally reports about the activities of the Pope, reviewed Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Or, rather, trashed it. “The counterpart of Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, wears a mask merely to emulate his predecessor, while the character who needs to substitute the Emperor Palpatine as the incarnation of supreme evil represents the most serious defect of the film,” the article read. Although many would disagree with the scathing review, there’s something nice about a newspaper writer in the Vatican straying from his required Pope musings to review the latest installment of the saga (even if he did call it “confused and vague”). Embrace the arts, man! Review all the Pope-less things you want! No word yet on if the Pope has read the piece, but he likely doesn’t want the spoilers.
