Carol, Bridge of Spies, and The Revenant Lead 2016 BAFTA Nominations

Are you ready to BAFTA? Carol and Bridge of Spies are! Both films nabbed nine nominations for the British Academy’s 69th annual awards, the contenders of which were announced early Friday. Following close on Carol’s and Bridge’s heels were The Revenant (eight), Mad Max: Fury Road (seven), and Brooklyn and The Martian (six each). Star Wars also snuck in there with four nominations. On the acting side, Alicia Vikander’s name was notably called twice, because of her work in The Danish Girl and Ex Machina — two more shots at glory than Spectre has, in case you’re wondering. And yes, Leo and his raw bison liver are there, so read on for the rest of the 2016 nominees and embrace awards season:
