Look, it’s an unreasonable expectation. It’s December 31. You’re in Las Vegas. You are clearly a gigantic Celine Dion fan. When Celine Dion says she wants Adele to be part of your New Year’s Eve, it’s only natural to think, even for a moment, that she means it literally. Of course Celine Dion is actually just segueing into a lovely cover of Adele’s “Hello,” but oh, that one split second. A person could live and die in that split second. It’s for the best. If Adele had actually walked onto that stage, the Colosseum in Las Vegas’s Caesars Palace would have had to close for a week to have all the seats reupholstered. Or, potentially, burned.
