Don’t Be Confused By This Wonderfully Confusing Sketch

Oh, man. UCB’s new Maude team, Choir only has 19 subscribers, and that’s about to change real quick if they keep putting out sketches like this. A perfect mix of the simple and the absurdly complex, this piece, written by Jason Sweeten and starring Anna Callegari and Sarah Grace Welbourn, is an indictment against the oft-made argument that word play sketches are – inherently – lazy and unfunny. The very beauty of these additions to the cannon of comedy lies in an unabashed laziness in premise and an anything-but-lazy commitment to probing every possible angle of a seemingly simple, one-note joke. Go forth all ye word play writers, go forth and let these Sisters in Law be your misleading guides.
