A Petition to Have Snoop Dogg to Narrate a Season of Planet Earth Has More Than 40,000 Signatures

Democracy (from the Greek demos, “the people,” and kratia, “power”) has been the foundation for many of the great accomplishments of Western civilization: Greek culture, the American Revolution, the fall of tyranny everywhere, and that time Kelly Clarkson won American Idol. Now, the people have combined their powers Captain Planet–style in an attempt to add yet another jewel to democracy’s shimmering crown: More than 40,000 have signed a petition to have Snoop Dogg narrate his own season of Planet Earth. The movement is inspired by Jimmy Kimmel segments called “Plizzanet Earth” wherein the illustrious Snoop provides voice-over for the BBC series originally narrated by David Attenborough and (in the U.S. version) Sigourney Weaver. The petition, which Kelly Ooton of Lincoln, Nebraska, posted on January 28, makes its case succinctly: “Snoop Dogg has narrated some Planet Earth in the past but yo we need him to narrate full episodes. Sign the petition if you agree.”

And yes, Snoop Dogg is on board.
