Rian Johnson might be taking over for J.J. Abrams for Star Wars: Episode VIII, but that doesn’t mean J.J. Abrams won’t coquettishly hint at knowing all the major plot points just to torture you for the next year. “I know quite a bit,” the director revealed to reporters at the Television Critics Association, when asked if he knew if Rey is a Skywalker or a Kenobi. Abrams then gave a big, saucy wink and pressed his index finger to his lips, I’m assuming. “Obviously, it’s not for me to talk about in this moment because this is Rian’s story to continue now and the last thing I’m going to do is reveal something that he would be upset about. I want to make sure that Rian gets the courtesy,” Abrams continued, in the verbal equivalent of playfully shrugging his shoulders and twirling one curl around his index finger. Meanwhile, Rian Johnson is probably panicking backstage, silently gesturing to J.J. behind a curtain and mouthing the words, What are you doing?!?!
