Neil Patrick Harris — actor, magician, probably not evil — is set to play Count Olaf, the actor, con artist, and villain in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Harris will follow in the exaggerated footsteps of Jim Carrey and play the man who adopts and torments Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire after their parents die in a fire. The news comes as the series has also lost its showrunner, Mark Hudis, and is on the hunt for a new one, who surely won’t disappear under mysterious circumstances. The adaptation of the 13-book series is set for a 13-episode order, each of which will hopefully teach viewers fun new vocabulary words, such as “ersatz,” “austere,” and “sizable TV contract.”
