Watch Rachel Dratch and Adam McKay Go on a ’50s Date at The Second City

Welcome to The Second City Archives, in which we post an exclusive clip each week of some of comedy’s biggest superstars performing early in their careers on the legendary Chicago stage. Second City has generously given us a glimpse into their extensive archive of live performances, and over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some rare and retro comedy never before seen on the web.

This week’s clip is from Second City’s famous 1995 revue Piñata Full of Bees, which featured ensemble performers Adam McKay, Rachel Dratch, Scott Adsit, Jon Glaser, Scott Allman, and Jenna Jolovitz. In the above scene, Dratch and McKay travel back to the good old times of the ‘50s as two youngsters on a date. “I pray for sparkling kitchens, moist cakes, and dead commies!” “Yes, I pray three to four times a day. I pray that God will kill the part of me that makes me like men!” Ah yes – the good old ‘50s. Check out some more great clips from Piñata Full of Bees here and here.
