Yasiin Bey was arrested Friday for attempting to leave South Africa with a fake passport, the Associated Press reports. Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def, reportedly attempted to fly out of Cape Town International Airport with a phony “world” passport and was arrested for violating South African immigration laws; the musician has lived in Cape Town since 2013, having entered on a visitors permit that has long since expired. He has 14 days to leave the country and will not be able to return for five years, though he can appeal the decision.
