Katey Sagal just signed on to star in a CBS family comedy pilot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sagal will star in an untitled single-cam pilot based on Australian comedy series Upper Middle Bogan, which debuted on Australia’s ABC in 2013 and and wrapped up its second season in December 2014. The American adaptation – which will be written by Modern Family’s Dan O’Shannon – centers on Bess, “a wife and mother who learns she was adopted and that her birth parents are a flamboyant but loving family of drag racers.” Sagal will play Julie, the wife of Wayne (played by John Carroll Lynch) “and the matriarch of the family. After Wayne lost an eye, Julie stepped in as the lead driver of Team Wheeler.” Sagal most recently starred on FX’s Sons of Anarchy, Bastard Executioner, and Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
