In the world of House of Cards, people only come to power by doing unspeakably horrible things. So when Netflix announced Friday that senior writers Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese have been promoted to co-showrunners, replacing the departed Beau Willimon, our minds couldn’t help but wander. Were they blackmailing Ted Sarandos over a shady business deal with China? Did they bribe the paparazzi to take unflattering photos of Kevin Spacey? Was a guinea pig involved? Probably it was none of these things. We don’t know anything — don’t push us in front of a train!
