That’s the thing about high-concept shows. They’re able to fold in a whole host of themes and genres in a way that low-concept shows are simply not equipped to do. They’re the Cold Stone Creamery of television, if you will. Exhibit A: the season-two trailer for Starz’ Outlander, which has everything a viewer could want from a full week of watching TV: time travel, 18th-century British politics, fighting, time travel, sex, villainy, scheming, babies, fire, love that endures across the unfathomable expanse of space and time, fabulous costumes, airplanes, fireworks, and, of course, goddamn time travel.
