John Goodman, a swell guy who has recently appeared in some good movies about monsters and will appear in some potentially good upcoming movies about monsters, has joined Peter Berg’s Boston Marathon bombing movie. Goodman will play Commissioner Ed Davis, Variety reports. “Commissioner Davis is an American hero, and John Goodman brings the extraordinary combination of humility, gravitas and empathy to portray him,” director Berg said. Mark Wahlberg, who is from Boston and is co-producing the movie, will play a police officer who is important to the investigation. J.K. Simmons, who is not from Boston but who has an Oscar and can almost certainly speak with a Boston accent should the role require such actorly prowess, co-stars.
