Everybody give a warm welcome to Deborah: She comes from the year 1775, likes modern ideals, and is actually Leighton Meester. Deadline reports the Gossip Girl star will return to series TV as the female lead in Fox’s Making History pilot, opposite Adam Pally. The time-traveling comedy — exec-produced by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Julius “Goldy” Sharpe — centers on Pally’s “nerdy computer science professor” who goes to the past to start a new life and to dazzle people with his knowledge of the future. As Deborah, Meester will meet Pally as a self-educated colonial Queen Bee who’s pushing for gender and racial equality in the 18th century. In other words, she might be too busy to help Pally un-cancel Happy Endings.
