A Local Traffic Reporter Honored Phife Dawg on Live TV in the Rap-Nerdiest Way

The late Phife Dawg touched many lives, even the dude on the morning news preparing you for your awful commute, as people in Atlanta learned today. Mark Arum, a traffic reporter for ABC’s Atlanta affiliate and apparent A Tribe Called Quest stan, spent the day brilliantly jazzing up the local news by inserting Phife lyrics into a bunch of his traffic reports. (Weirdly, it works.) It’s a thing of rap nerd-dom that deserves to go viral if only because he kept it up all morning and he wasn’t even the only one. Anchor Fred Blankenship played the Q-Tip to Arum’s Phife for parts of it — “You on point, Mark?” is how he tossed it to Arum at one point — in what has to got to be the funkiest send-off Phife Dawg could’ve asked for.
