Our new trend of TV musicals is great, in part because it gives America’s singing-and-dancing-est celebrities something to do between seasons of Dancing With the Stars. Today brings news from The Hollywood Reporter that Nicole Scherzinger has joined the cast of ABC’s upcoming Dirty Dancing remake. (Abigail Breslin will star as Baby; one of Pink’s backup dancers will play Johnny.) Scherzinger will play Penny, Johnny’s pregnant dance partner, in the taped TV movie. Let’s just hope the line about God and maracas makes it into this version, too.
