Good news for Friday Night Lights fans who always thought Tim Riggins was destined for more: After a rocky screen career, Taylor Kitsch is finally ready to be his best self. The True Detective season two alum is making his screenwriting and directorial debut with a crime drama called Pieces, because somehow he survived TD and thought, More similar things, please. Adapted from Kitsch’s short film of the same name, Pieces follows three best friends whose lives are upended when they intercept a drug run. Kitsch will also star in the movie, playing the friend with a major gambling debt. Per Deadline, Peter Berg, who created FNL and directed Kitsch in Battleship, is onboard as a producer, so there’s some reunion news that you could take very generously, or not. Kitsch’s film is an indie, so, much like objects that qualify as kitsch, a term that took on low-brow connotations in the mid-20th century, Pieces will presumably be made on the cheap.
