On Wednesday, Marvel announced that Alfre Woodard is the latest actor to join the packed ensemble of Captain America: Civil War. She will appear in the film alongside Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Tom Holland, Gwyneth Paltrow — take a deep breath, there are only a few more — Martin Freeman, Daniel Brühl, William Hurt, and Community’s Jim Rash. In a role that’s likely been kept under wraps for some time, Woodard will reportedly be playing the mother of a civilian who died during the climax of Age of Ultron. But what makes this interesting is that the actress has already been cast as a villain in Marvel’s Luke Cage series — and according to Screencrush, her Civil War character is a completely different person. Yes, that’s right: The Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting so big that it’s even swallowing up actors who were already cast in other Marvel projects.
