Katherine Heigl’s apology tour, which has lasted approximately the span of her entire career, continued today on The Howard Stern Show, where she attempted to explain away that time she shaded the hell out of Shonda Rhimes. We’re referring, of course, to the former Grey’s Anatomy star’s infamous explanation that she did not submit herself for Emmy consideration in 2008 because, “I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination.” Why Heigl did not let the Emmy voters decide that one for themselves is one of life’s great question marks, but Heigl now says that her comments were never really about Grey’s. They were about Heigl herself! “I wasn’t feeling good about my work that season,” she told Stern. “I didn’t feel good about my performance.”

Heigl also said she felt “embarrassed” by her comments, telling Rhimes at the time, “That wasn’t cool, and I should not have said that.” Whether Rhimes will ever truly forgive Heigl is not for us to say, but Heigl sure is ready for you to! She even went to therapy to deal with the haters after all of that scrutiny made her feel like “the biggest piece of shit on the bottom of your shoe.” Anyway, this has been your daily reminder never to piss off Shonda Rhimes, or you’ll end up like Heigl, eating that shit on your shoe for eight years and counting.
