Finally. Real-life drag inspiration NeNe Leakes went on Lip Sync Battle and performed “Supermodel (You Better Work),” the song that launched RuPaul into mainstream popularity back in the early ‘90s. It’s especially good timing considering RuPaul recently called out Lip Sync Battle as a “poor ripoff” of RuPaul’s Drag Race (At the end of every episode, RuPaul has the bottom two queens “lip-sync for their lives” in what is literally a lip-sync battle). So it seems fitting that someone on the Spike TV show at least pay homage to RuPaul with a lip-sync performance of one of her songs, and who better than the very real housewife of Atlanta, NeNe Leakes? You better do Mama Ru proud, NeNe.
