Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake Troll Trolls Press Tour With Suspiciously Earnest Duet of ‘True Colors’

Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake, while at Cannes to hype Trolls, an inherently troll-able film, sang a lovely, exceedingly earnest rendition of Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors.” So, was the duet a troll? A deliberate roiling up of those who found a high corn quotient in Timberlake’s original Trolls tune “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”? Maybe, or maybe we’re the true trolls and Kendrick and Timberlake are sincere people untainted by an agenda. Or hey, maybe, given the Trolls’ rainbow aesthetic, the duo was just being thoroughly literal about the truth of those colors. Of course, another possibility is that “True Colors” is on the Trolls soundtrack and, more than trolling you, Kendrick and Timberlake were just feeding the frenzy of populist zeal. Yeah, it’s that last one. Nice song though!
