Kimbo Slice, the popular mixed martial artist and UFC fighter, has died at age 42. According to TMZ, Slice, born Kevin Ferguson, was hospitalized early Monday and died later that day. Bellator CEO Scott Coker confirmed the news, saying, “We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family … One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport.” Slice gained a notable web presence in the early aughts after posting his own fighting videos online. He signed with the UFC, competing on The Ultimate Fighter in 2009. Slice’s cause of death is unclear at this time.
