Earlier this week, a whole gaggle of Broadway stars got together to release a new version of the Burt Bacharach–Hal David classic “What the World Needs Now Is Love.” The recording is an effort to honor the victims of the recent attack at an Orlando gay club, with proceeds from the song going to the LGBT Community Center of Central Florida. On Tuesday’s Maya & Marty, the group — with a few substitutions (hi, Victor Garber, Megan Hilty, and Marissa Jaret Winokur!) — reunited to perform the song alongside images from Orlando and the historic Stonewall Inn. Hosts Maya Rudolph and Martin Short also joined in for the lovely performance.
