Lasso up some sweet hope, because the plaintive ballad of a little show called Nashville ain’t over yet! Per TVLine, the axed ABC drama is nearing a deal for a fifth-season pickup by CMT. The news should come as a major relief to Nashville’s loyal (if tortured) legion of fans, as the show’s ABC run ended on some major cliffhangers. As was the plan before its cancellation, Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick (My So-Called Life, Thirtysomething) will take stewardship of Nashville for season five, so here’s hoping for plots that have a little more beautiful, empathetic drama and a little less arrughhh. A possible cause for concern: No word yet on which actors will be making the jump to CMT. Official tell of Nashville’s rescue is expected to come during Wednesday’s CMT Awards, one can only hope in the form of a live musical number. 2016: Where the key to immortality is being TV.
