Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West’s Love Story Is Getting the Movie Treatment

Like an androgynous 16th-century man named Orlando who is transformed into a woman and lives for hundreds of years, some stories are not meant to die. At least that’s the hope with the upcoming Vita and Virginia film, directed by Chanya Button. According to Deadline, the film will bring the love affair and friendship of two ladies of letters, Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West, to the big screen. As you may remember from when you were studying Woolf’s Orlando: A Biography, Virginia and Vita were like the Tara and Willow of the early-20th-century British leisure class — you just want those two sensitive souls to work out, even if both novelists were married to men at the time.
