After getting caught in development for a few years, Issa Rae’s comedy Insecure is finally coming to HBO this fall. Rae made her name with the web series Awkward Black Girl, and Insecure looks to tackle the unspoken rules of race head-on — specifically, examining the question of “what does it mean when you don’t fit into this definition of being black?” — and also, you know, being pretty gosh-darn funny. Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, and Lisa Joyce fill out the rest of the cast, and Insecure’s set to premiere on October 9.
