The Strokes’ First Music Video in Five Years Is a Deliciously Silly Art-Film Pastiche

It’s been five years since the Strokes released a proper music video (the lyric video for the thrumming “Drag Queen” doesn’t count), and the quintet decided to provide some major fan service by releasing one for “Threat of Joy,” the smooth closer from their newest EP, Future Present Past. Between the sinister pig-masked gentlemen and the roller-disco rink — there’s a lot of eccentric stuff going on here it’s honestly just nice to see these five guys back in a video and having a silly time. Seriously, how delightfully goofy are Julian’s dance moves?
