The Starship Enterprise sails on, but it will leave one crew member behind. While a fourth Star Trek film is already a go, J.J. Abrams says that the character of Pavel Chekov, played by Anton Yelchin, will not be recast. Yelchin, who appears in the upcoming Star Trek Beyond, died in a freak accident last month at the age of 27. “I would say there’s no replacing him,” Abrams told the Toronto Sun. “There’s no recasting. I can’t possibly imagine that, and I think Anton deserves better.” Abrams says that he has considered the possibility of writing his death into the script. “I have thought about it, we’re working on it, and it’s too early to talk about it,” he said.
