Here Are the Voices Behind BoJack Horseman, Past and Present

Arnett voices the show’s titular character, a washed-up star of the 90’s sitcom Horsin’ Around who’s fallen into alcoholism and depression as he ponders his has-been career.

Princess Carolyn is BoJack’s agent and ex-girlfriend. She is extremely career driven, but often jumps into relationships and finds it difficult to separate her professional and personal life, like when she decided to start her own talent agency with her married boyfriend at the end of season two.

This feminist writer voiced by Alison Brie is BoJack’s friend and ghostwriter of his autobiography. Though BoJack once had feelings for her, she’s now married to a talking labrador retriever named Mr. Peanutbutter.

Todd is an unemployed human who crashes on BoJack’s couch rent-free and spends most of his time playing video games and slacking off.

Mr. Peanutbutter is a labrador retriever who starred in the sitcom Mr. Peanutbutter’s House, which ripped off the plot of BoJack’s Horsin’ Around. Despite their rivalry, BoJack and Mr. PB have a friendly relationship, and he's especially close with BoJack's roommate, Todd.

Jacobson’s character Emily is Todd’s high school girlfriend who later reconnects with him at a wedding; together, they become business partners in a women’s-only cab service, Cabracadabra.

Judah is Princess Carolyn’s new assistant, who, though great at his job, is constantly teased for his overgrown beard, manbun, and complete lack of human emotion.

This high-powered spider thespian was once the girlfriend and assistant to BoJack’s co-writer on The BoJack Horseman Show, Mr. Cuddlywhiskers, but now spends her time directing plays like The Tragedie of Greg Kinglear.

After playing the Horse’s daughter on Horsin’ Around, child actress Sarah Lynn became a successful pop singer with severe alcoholism and drug addiction.

The BoJack Horseman version of Jessica Biel, voiced by Biel herself, used to be married to Mr. Peanutbutter in a 2007 flashback, before she left him for Justin Timberlake.

An old co-star of BoJack’s from Horsin’ Around, Goober now runs a sketchy whale strip club and un underground drug ring selling heroin that he calls “BoJack.”

When BoJack tries to cancel his L.A. Gazette subscription, Bergen voices the newspaper’s “closer,” who counsels customers like a therapist until they forget why they called.

When a cargo hold of spaghetti bursts in the ocean and threatens to destroy an underwater city, Chef Carla Hall acts as a pasta consultant on the daily news to describe the seriousness of the situation.

This OITNB star voices Stephanie Stilton, the sister of Princess Carolyn’s new boyfriend, who runs a blog called GirlCrush and offers Diane a job at the end of season three.

Kelsey is a a divorced, lesbian filmmaker hired to direct BoJack’s film, Secretariat. She takes the job as a way to break into big studio films and provide for her daughter. She grows close to BoJack throughout the process, but is later fired before the film’s completion.

Besides being the show’s creator, Bob-Waksberg also has a role as the voice of Charlie Witherspoon, an intern at Vigor, the talent agency where Princess Carolyn works (thanks to the fact that his dad is Vigor’s owner).

Oswalt’s penguin character was the owner of the Penguin Publishing house, which published BoJack’s autobiography. Pinky left the house before the book was finished, choosing instead to work for MBN Network.

Herb was once BoJack’s mentor and the creator/writer for Horsin’ Around before the two had a falling out when Herb was ousted from the show’s network for being gay. BoJack attempted to rekindle their relationship when he learned that Herb had cancer, but he tragically died in a car crash shortly after his recovery.

Kudrow’s character Wanda Pierce is a television network executive at MBN. In season two, she dates BoJack briefly after waking up from a 30-year coma, unaware of his fame, but the two eventually break up after an argument.

A tarantula/obvious Quentin Tarantino parody, Bigley’s character Quentin Tarantulino is a film director who worked with Lenny Turtletaub on his movie, Mr. Peanutbutter’s Hollywoo Heist, an unfinished film starring BoJack.

Charlotte Moore is an old friend of BoJack’s from his Horsin’ Around days, when she dated Herb Kazzaz. The two reconnect at Herb’s funeral and BoJack visits her family in New Mexico. He ultimately ruins their rekindled friendship when she finds him about to fool around with her daughter.

Malick voices BoJack’s verbally abusive mother, Beatrice, who is mostly seen in flashbacks being unsupportive and neglectful.

This snow leopard is an image-obsessed celebrity who asked Diane to do volunteer work with him in Cordovia, but it soon became clear that his various charities were just a publicity stunt.

A parody of the American novelist who wrote Catcher in the Rye, BoJack Horseman’s J.D. Salinger faked his own death to open a bicycle shop in anonymity before being re-discovered by Princess Carolyn, who convinces him to create a game show hosted by Mr. Peanutbutter.

Martindale voices herself in several episodes, where she cameos as a bonafide criminal; she serves time in Hollywoo prison after assisting in a bank robbery.

Corduroy Jackson-Jackson is a former underwear model and BoJack’s co-star in Secretariat. He dies from auto-erotic asphyxiation.

Chenoweth’s villainous and antagonistic character, Vanessa Gekko, is a successful talent agent and Princess Carolyn’s rival at Vigor.

Based off of a real American racehorse who won the Triple Crown in 1973, BoJack Horseman’s Secretariat was banned from competition after his big win for betting on his own races. He committed suicide out of disgrace, but remained a childhood hero of BoJack’s, who later starred in Secretariat, a biopic of his life.
