Dan Harmon Is Waiting to Make the Community Movie Until the Cast Is Less Famous

#SixSeasonsAndAMovie … one of these days. Dan Harmon told Larry King that the Community movie is happening, but, much like the end of the world, we don’t know how or why or when. For now, Harmon is holding off until the cast is much less famous. He said: “If I pull out a typewriter right now and write a Community movie just for my own heart and mind, then I have to go through the heartbreak and agony of finding out which of the people will show up to make it.” Who can blame the guy for dodging that? Working on a script for a year, then looking up to see Donald Glover’s busy taking Atlanta to the Emmys and Joel McHale’s making the hottest CBS sitcom this side of Two and a Half Men? Seems unpleasant! Still, according to Harmon, the alternative is also … not great. “On the other hand, if I wait for everyone to line up and say, we’re all out of work and ready to do a Community movie, well, I guess that’s a bad idea, too,” he said. Okay, so there are still some kinks to iron out, but Harmon’s point is this: the Community movie, “It’ll make a great movie. It’ll happen.” Vulture looks forward to rehashing this information every couple of years for the infinitude.
