Few phrases sum up the existence of Gucci Mane better than free music: In the course of a career that spans more than a decade, Atlanta’s Trap God has released a total of 49 mixtapes for the price of absolutely nothing. Now it appears that his upcoming album Everybody Looking might just join that priceless catalogue. Gucci announced, over a video on Instagram, that he would leak the album if his Instagram follower count (currently lurking just below 2 million) rises to 3 million before the album’s scheduled July 22 release date. It’s unclear whether the album would be released for free or simply free for the public to consume at a price, but in any case Gucci’s living up to his liberatory nature. (Given the potential for increased Instagram ad revenue, his spontaneous gesture could very well be a smart business move as well.)
