In the midst of last night’s pop emergency, one of its newcomers sneaked her contribution in to the craze. Or should we say, haiz? Hailee Steinfield’s pop alter ego has returned, and she’s joined forces with Zedd for a new track called “Starving,” newly added to her 2015 debut EP Haiz. A considerably more understated style than Zedd’s usual anthemic summer heat, it’s more for those chill days spent at home, in bed, making googly eyes at your fling. Which, judging from the title and lyrics, might actually be pizza, or whatever her preferred food porn: “I didn’t know that I was starving till I tasted you / Don’t need no butterflies when you give me the whole zoo,” she sings. Girl, same.
