Variety reports that Javier Bardem is in talks to play Frankenstein’s monster in Universal’s classic-horror cinematic universe, joining the ranks of A-listers like Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, and Russell Crowe, who have already signed up for the long-gestating initiative. Though the studio’s plans for the franchise include a possible Bride of Frankenstein film, Variety’s sources say, just like in the Marvel films, it’s likely the monster would be introduced in another movie first. Though today’s news is surprising, Bardem does fit the sole criteria for the role: being alive! Alive!!!
